Sleep is something that you don’t realise affects you in such a strong way until you don’t get enough of it! Sleep is something that can improve your performance in and out of the gym. Other aspects that sleep can help with health wise are:

Losing Weight

Researchers at the University of Chicago found that dieters who were well rested lost more fat, 56% more participants lost weight faster than those who were sleep deprived.

Sleep and metabolism are controlled by the same sectors of the brain; sleep deprivation can lead to hunger cravings, which may lead to you gaining weight.


Testosterone levels and growth hormone levels are elevated during sleep. This helps the body repair itself. These hormones assist in recovery in strength and fitness gains.

Increased performance

A Stanford University study established that college American football players who slept at least 10 hours a night for seven to eight weeks improved their average sprint time and had less daytime fatigue and higher levels of stamina.
