7 Ways to Survive Workouts on Scorching Days

Drink More Fluids Before and During Your Training

When it is hot you will sweat more than usual so it’s very important to replace lost fluids and electrolytes. Make sure you stock up on water before training, and then bring plenty of fluids with you to train as to stay hydrated during your workout. A hydration electrolyte drink can help replenish any lost fluids.

Avoid the Worst Times of Day

If you are planning on working out outside we recommend avoiding hot times of the day from 11am-3pm. Try to train early morning or early evening when the sun is at its weakest.

If Training Outside Choose a Shady Route/Location

If running is part of your training try to plan a route with plenty of shade to maximise time out of direct sunlight. Use the Abu Dhabi skyline to your advantage, buildings create excellent shade for running.

Mind the Humidity

Check humidity levels before you decide to train outside, humidity can make it feel twice as hot.

Wear Lightweight, Light Coloured Clothing

Light weight clothes will help massively in the heat. Wear lightweight bright colours to reflect sunlight and heat.

Wear Suncream

Hot, sunny days mean strong ultraviolet rays and quick sunburns. If you’re exercising outdoors for more than a few minutes, make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. It might actually help you feel cooler.
